i-SeaportsTM Traffic Management Center

i-Seaports Traffic Management Center provides a Vessel Traffic Management System (VTMS) that fully integrates to its communications, security, financial services and customer relations. No longer must these each stand alone and require redundancies of effort to manage and synchronize data. i-Seaports workflow processing begins with reservation requests from any client, anywhere, anytime 24/7. The steps flow seamlessly from one to another yet have built-in controls in each step.

Traffic Management Dashboards controlled by the Administrator insure that what users can see and do in each step of the process protects critical proprietary and confidential commercial and security information. Historical data for all communications, messages, transaction decisions, activities and services are fully documented in i-Seaports and provide for an extensive array of standard and customizable (ad-hoc) reports, charts, graphs and analysis that let both the client and the seaport stay on top of their business.

Global Reservations Processing

Remote Request 24/7
Remote clients from anywhere in the world can login to place their reservations request and track their reservations status 24/7/365. International vessels may have to make their application to a national vessel movement center (NVMC) as in the USA or with the appropriate security ministry or department.

All Services Requests & User Preference Settings
They may also identify all the services they will need and set the preferences on their screen to display their language, time zone, and configure reports available to them in the formats they prefer.

Notifications & Online Costs Quotation
Once the reservation is confirmed, the vessel agent and others may receive notification and will see their clearance online. This confirmation is a signal to the finance center that they may issue a quote if the customer so desires. The reservation confirmation will also signal the vessel agent who can send notifications of their expected port arrival time to pilots, tug operators, and vendors serving them.

Arrival & Security Management

Threat Assessment Intelligence Collaboration
National Vessel Movement Center in the USA must clear international vessels for entry into a US Port. Many national governments are establishing similar security and intelligence processing centers to conduct threat assessments and take appropriate measures depending on the results before admitting a vessel into their port. i-Seaports has the communication and collaboration capabilities to streamline the facilitation of this process.

Security & First Responder Collaboration
Once reservations are in queue, the port can engage with its security partners in totally integrated online clearance procedures customized to the operations of their country or port. Coast Guard, Customs, Immigration and Environmental Agencies may all play their roles in the process with the port. Any communications mechanisms the port has chosen to use can be employed at any moment to keep everyone informed including 1st Responders who may need to be on alert

Monitoring Arrival Process
Seaport operations and the coast guard can then monitor both communications and tracking to validate the actual arrival time. Even if the vessel agent or ships captain has not communicated, other monitoring devices may keep them prepared to coordinate the arrival process. Links to Monitoring Services can be accessed from inside of i-Seaports Security Dashboard including

  • Automated Identification System
  • Long Range Identification Tracking
  • RADAR over water
  • SONAR under water
  • Secure Water Transit Perimeter

Berthing & Services Delivery

Tariff Controls
The services the port provides may all be defined in the items (inventory) table following the rules defined in their tariff schedule.

Berth Moves & Activities Management
Moves from one berth to another and the definition of the activities performed at each berth with start and ending times are entered and or modified at actual time of delivery.

Mitigating Disputes
Every such action performed in the sales order format also keeps the client informed of changes in anticipated costs and the A/R in finance on top of expectations. Disputes can be avoided and/or settled in real time.

Departure & Intermodal Throughput Management

Managing a Secure Departure
The seaport and security agencies may use the same collaboration and monitoring processes used on arrivals to manage departures. Coordinating departures with the vessel agents, pilots and tugs uses the same level of communications and tracking efficiencies as arrivals

Tracking Intermodal Throughput
i-Seaports provides fields to maintain intermodal connections information for truck, rail and air, or where ship cargo is arriving from or going to. This applies to both inbound and outbound cargo. i-Seaports can become your intermodal management center.

Accommodating Delays
Nothing is ever as smooth as it is planned. Weather, worker availability, berthing scheduling conflicts, or equipment failures can all be managed within i-Seaports making all parties instantly aware of changes when they need to occur. The bottom line is kept in focus -- the commercial success of the client and the seaport.
